Philippine Airlines has selected IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system.
The implementation will extend iCargo across the airline’s domestic and international cargo operations. IBS Software will support PAL’s modernisation programme with capabilities covering its full range of business functions.
iCargo will handle cargo movements in both domestic and international operations, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance.
The platform already supports carriers with a similar mix of domestic and international demands, providing the flexibility, scale and capabilities to manage both, according to the companies.
PAL expects the transition to address operational requirements in system performance and data analytics. iCargo is also expected to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility, while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.
Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, said the initiative is an important step in modernising the airline’s cargo business. He said that as PAL grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and helps deliver a better customer experience.
Siy described iCargo as a key enabler of the airline’s long-term cargo transformation strategy and its ambition to build a stronger cargo business.
